Purandara Vaibhava
Dance choreography & direction: Smt. Jyothi Mohan
Students of the Dance School presented Purandara Vaibhava on
13th July, 2014, for Sri Shanmukhananda Fine Arts and Sangeetha Sabha at the main auditorium. To commemorate the Sabha entering its 62nd year, 62 dancers including
7-year olds participated in this programme, highlighting different genres of music in the compositions of Saint Purandaradasa. Weaving stories into each composition, the audience interest was kept alive by imaginative choreography, which involved many students in each kriti presented. Beginning with the popular Gajavadana Beduve and ending with Mangalam
in praise of Dasavathara, every song presented had visual appeal. The dance technique
and abhinaya were greatly appreciated. Colourful costumes and beautiful music added to
the allure of the presentation.
