Honouring the Real Heroes
The 75th anniversary of India’s independence
was celebrated with pomp and gaiety by
the Sabha in the presence of the members
of the Indian Army from the command area
of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa and their
families. Lt. Gen. H. S. Kahlon, SM, General
Officer Commanding (Maharashtra, Gujarat
and Goa) presided over the function and Shri.
Umesh Revankar, Vice-Chairman and Managing
Director of Shriram Transport Finance Co. Ltd.
was the Principal Guest of Honour. The Sabha
felicitated 25 Martyrs Families of men who gave
the supreme sacrifice of their life in the cause
of the nation. The Sabha also felicitated 75 war
veterans from Apshinge Military Village, Satara
on the occasion. The Sabha also conferred
the Sri Shanmukha Shaurya Ratna Award on
Apshinge Military village. The award carried a
prize money of Rs. 5,00,000/-. The families of
the following martyrs were honoured on the
occasion:
Havildar Rakesh Krishna Ningure
Rakesh Krishnat Ningure,
resident of Kolhapur was
enrolled in the Indian Army
on 18t
h December 2007
as part of 105 Engineer
Regiment. During service, he was deployed
in various field locations along the Eastern
borders in Assam, in an insurgency affected
location. Further, the Non Commission Officer
(NCO) served with the unit along the Northern
borders in ‘Leh’ (High Altitude Area) and was
involved in meticulous execution of Projects
along LAC (India China Border) with bravery
and Commitment. Considering his enterprise
and aptitude, he was redeployed in Assam for
‘Operation Rhino’ as member of Quick Reaction
Team (QRT) with the responsibility of security
against insurgent threats. For his good work, the
NCO was nominated for United Nations Mission
in South Sudan. On 21st January 2022 while on
duty, the NCO made the supreme sacrifice in the
service of the nation.
Sapper Mane Pradip Sanjay

Pradip Sanjay, resident of
Thane was enrolled in the
Indian Army on 27th March
2019 as part of Bengal
Engineer Group, Kirkee, Pune
and was posted to 269 Engineer Regiment.
During service, he was deployed along the harsh
environment and terrains along the northern
borders in Counter Insurgency environment
at locations such as Jammu & Kashmir. He
was active and quick in learning the basics of
Counter Insurgency operations and quickly
grasped all procedures, drills and procedures
being followed. He was an active sportsman
and a dedicated soldier who completed the
tasks assigned to him diligently and in a
responsible manner. While on active duty on
25th February 2022, the valiant soldier made
the supreme sacrifice in the service of the
nation.
Havildar Baria Tulsibhai Raijibhai

Baria Tulsibhai Raijibhai,
resident of Chhotaudepur
was enrolled in the Indian
Army on 2nd February 2002
in 21 MAHAR Regiment. During his service
career he served in various inhospitable and
difficult locations along the Northern as well
as Eastern borders to include the Counter
insurgency operations in Jammu & Kashmir
and twice in North East. While deployed in
hard field and high altitude area in Jammu
and Kashmir during active duty he made the
supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation
as per the highest values and traditions of
the Army.
Subedar Doiphode Laxman Santu

Doiphode Laxman Santu,
resident of Pune was enrolled
in Indian Army in 1995 in Corps
of Signals. During his service,
he served in various difficult and inhospitable
terrain and weather along the Northern,
Western as well as Eastern Borders in Jammu
& Kashmir, Nagaland, Punjab and Rajasthan. He
was deployed in an operational task in forward
location of Siang Valley, Arunachal Pradesh to
stabilize communication link for the detachment
and augment operational preparedness under
OP SNOW LEOPARD along Northern Borders.
During this operation he died.

Singh, resident of Ahmedabad
was enrolled in the Indian
Army on 25th September
2000 in 12 GUARDS. During his service in the
Army, he served with distinction in various
operational and difficult locations along the
Northern borders in Jammu & Kashmir, Leh
and Srinagar. While he was posted with his unit,
12 GUARDS sacrificed his life defending the
nation.

resident of Banaskanatha was
enrolled in the Indian Army on
14th September 2018 in 154
Filed Regiment. He served along the Eastern
borders in the difficult and inhospitable terrain
of the high altitude locations of Sikkim. While on
duty on 29th October 2021, the brave soldier made
the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation
as per the highest values and ethos of the Army
Subedar Suryawanshi Pramod
Narayanrao

Narayanrao, resident of Latur
was enrolled in the Indian
Army in 1994 in 216 Medium
Regiment. During his years in the Army, he
served in various inhospitable locations and
weather along the Northern and Eastern
Borders in Jammu & Kashmir and Arunachal
Pradesh. In Operation RAKSHAK, he was
deployed at a high altitude Observation Post,
Teg which is a forward post along the Line of
Control in Dawar, Gurez Sector, as Artillery
Observation Post Officer. During this active
deployment he made the supreme sacrifice in
the line of duty.

of Kolhapur was enrolled in
the Indian Army on 25th March
2010 in 109 TA (Territorial
Army) Battalion. During his years in the Army,
he served in various harsh field locations along
the Northern as well as Eastern borders in
Jammu & Kashmir and Assam. While on duty
on 3rd November 2021, he made the supreme
sacrifice of his life as per the finest traditions of
the Army.
Sepoy Kumbhar Sorabha Sunil

Sorabha Sunil, resident of
Kolhapur was enrolled in the
Indian Army on 10th October
2020 in Army Medical Corps.
He was efficient, a quick learner, enthusiastic,
and earnest soldier. While on duty on 11th
November 2021 he lost his life.

enrolled in the Indian Army on
1st February 2005 in Corps of
Electronics and Mechanical Engineers. During
his years in the Army, he served in difficult
locations and harsh weather along the Northern
as well as Eastern borders in Jammu & Kashmir
and Tenga.While on duty on 29th November
2021, he made the supreme sacrifice of his life
in the service of the nation.

resident of Kheda was enrolled
in the Indian Army on 17th
March 2005 in Army Medical
Corps. During his years in the Army, he served in

& Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh. In the line
of duty on 18th December 2021, he made the
supreme sacrifice of his life.

of Patan was enrolled in the
Indian Army on 18th December
2012 in Army Service Corps.
During his years in the Army, he served in
various inhospitable and harsh terrains and
weather in various locations along the Northern
as well as Eastern borders in Jammu & Kashmir
and Manipur. While on duty on 29th October
2021, he made the supreme sacrifice in the
service of the nation.
Patil Manohar Mahadev

Patil Manohar Mahadev,
resident of Kolhapur was
enrolled in the Indian Army
on 20th September 2015 in
299 Med Regt. During his years in the Army,
he served in various inhospitable and difficult
locations under harsh weather conditions. Late
Gnr (DMT) Patil Manohar Mahadav was a fine,
loyal and disciplined soldier and an outstanding
sportsperson. On 5th April 2020 while on duty
and training, he lost his life. During service, he
participated in various games/sports events
such as X-Country and Kabaddi at various levels.
Lance Naik Giramkar Vikas Ratilal

Giramkar Vikas Ratilal,
resident of Pune was enrolled
in the Indian Army on 25th
November 2003 in 9 MARATHA
LIGHT INFANTRY. During his years in the Army
he served in various harsh field locations and
inhospitable terrains and weather along the
northern as well as Eastern borders in Jammu
& Kashmir, Sikkim and Assam. While on duty
on 9th December 2021, he made the supreme
sacrifice of his life.
Sepoy Landge Ganpati Suresh

Ganpati Suresh, resident of
Latur was enrolled in the
Indian Army on 18th December
2013 in 6 MAHAR. During his
years in the Army, he served in various remote
and inhospitable terrains with harsh weather
along the Northern border in Jammu & Kashmir,
Siachen Glacier and Ladakh. He was deployed
at Chumathang (High Altitude Area) in Leh, and
made the supreme sacrifice in service of the
nation while performing operational duty at
High Altitude Area on 6th May 2020.

resident of Surendranagar was
enrolled in the Indian Army
on 20th March 2016 in 23
MARATHA LI. During his years in the Army, he
served in various challenging locations along
the Northern as well as Eastern borders such as
Jammu & Kashmir and Assam. While on sentry
duty in Counter Insurgency Operations Area, he
made the supreme sacrifice on 6th June 2019.
Naik Lobhe Nagnath Abhang

Latur was enrolled in the Indian
Army on 25th March 2008 in
Bombay Engineer Group and
Centre, Kirkee, Pune. During his years in the
Army, he served in various difficult terrains
and inhospitable weather along the Northern,
Western as well as Eastern borders in Jammu &
Kashmir, Siachen Glacier, Sikkim and Rajasthan.
On 20th December 2020, he died while on duty in
the forward area where operational tasks were
undertaken.

enrolled in the Indian Army on
9th September 2009 in Artillery
Regiment (621 SATA Battery). During his years
in the Army, he served along the Northern,
Western as well as Eastern borders in Jammu
& Kashmir, Sikkim and Rajasthan. During
Operation Rakshak he made the supreme
sacrifice on 10th July 2019 while on duty.

Guards. During his years in the
Army, he served in multiple challenging locations
along the Northern as well as Eastern borders in

23rd May 2020, he sacrificed his life defending the
nation.
Sapper Deshmukh Shyamrao

of Akola was enrolled in the
Indian Army on 18th March
2008 in Bombay Engineers
Group, Kirkee. During his service in the Army, he
has served in various harsh field locations along
the Northern and Western borders in Srinagar,
Siachen Glacier and Rajasthan. While on duty he
made the supreme sacrifice on 17th April 2016.

Katekhaye Preshant, resident
of Nagpur was enrolled in the
Indian Army on 29th September
2005 in Corps of Electronics
and Mechanical Engineers. During his service
in the Army, he was deployed in numerous
harsh locations and terrain along the Northern
and Western borders in Jammu & Kashmir and
Rajasthan. While on duty on 31st January 2014,
he never returned making the supreme sacrifice
for the nation.
Havildar Rajendra Jagdale

Rajendra Jagdale, resident of
Pune was enrolled in the Indian
Army on 27th January 2003 in
107 Engineer Regiment. During
his service in the Army, he served in various
inhospitable field locations along the Eastern
and Western borders in Assam, Rajasthan and
Manipur. He died in the line of duty in OP Rhino on
3rd January 2019.
Havildar Shinde Mahadev Vishwas

Shinde Mahadev Vishwas,
resident of Mumbai was
enrolled in the Indian Army on
24th October 1996 in Regiment
of Artillery and served 17 Parachute Field
Regiment. During his years in the Army, he
served in multiple harsh terrain and locations
along the Northern and Eastern borders
including Jammu & Kashmir and Assam. For
an apt recognition of the superior results of all
tasks allotted to him he was also nominated
for United Nations Mission in Congo. While on
active duty on 20th July 2012, he breathed his
last, defending the nation.
Havildar Deshmukh Vinod Sahebrao

Deshmukh Vinod Sahebrao,
resident of Thane was enrolled
in the Indian Army on 29th
October 1994 in 26 MARATHA
LI. During his service in the Army, he served
in diverse inhospitable locations, terrain and
weather along the Northern border including
Jammu & Kashmir and Siachen Glacier. On 26th
December 2008 he made the supreme sacrifice
in the service of the nation.
Havildar Zala Ghanshyamsinh
No 740350 Havidlar Zala
Ghanshyamsinh, resident of
Surendranagar was enrolled in
the Indian Army on 3rd February
1979 in 19 GRENADIER
Regiment. During his service in the Army, he
served in various difficult locations and harsh
terrain coupled with inhospitable weather
conditions along the Northern, Eastern and
Western borders in Jammu & Kashmir, Assam
and Rajasthan. He also served in Sri Lanka. On
19th October 1995 while on duty, he made the
supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
Apshinge Military Village, Satara District, Maharashtra
Apshinge village in Satara District has a population of about 3000. The 350 families
that reside in the
village have atleast one serving member in the armed forces. 46 soldiers from this
village sacrificed
their lives during World War I. In recognition of their services, the British
Government
built a Vijay
Sthamb in the centre of the village. Several men from the village had sacrificed
their
lives during the
Indo-China war of 1962 and the two wars with Pakistan in 1965 and 1971. The children
of
the village
are encouraged from an early age to pursue careers in the armed forces and are
trained
accordingly.
In recognition of this unique contribution of the village, the Sabha conferred the
Sri
Shanmukha
Shaurya Ratna Award 2022 on Apshinge Village. 75 war veterans from the village were
honoured on
the occasion. The award carried a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakhs, a citation and
mementos.
The Sabha jointly with the South Indian Education Society implemented the project to
have a
Learning Centre and Gymnasium in the village. To enable the youth of the village to
meet
the exacting
standards of the Indian Army for recruitment under the Agneepath Scheme. It was also
decided to
enable the youth from the neighbouring villages in the district to avail of the
facility. This project
was started on 19.11.2022 and in a record time of 3 months and 21 days was completed
on
9th
March 2023. M/s. Vascon Engineers Ltd. were the Hon. Architects and consultants for
the
project.
The total civil cost was Rs. 56,90,345/- which was paid by the Sabha from the
various
donations
and CSR contributions received for the project. Global Insurance Brokers Pvt. Ltd.
contributed
Rs. 25,00,000/- for the project.
The South Indian Education Society (SIES) funded the cost of the various gym
equipments,
furniture and fittings of the Learning Centre, twenty desktops and a printer and a
smart
board. It
would also provide progressively the various softwares as teaching aids pertaining
to
the Armed
forces. This is a very significant initiative that would enable a large number of
rural
youth to join the
Indian Army in the years ahead. Brig. (Retd.) Mohan Nikam and the ex-servicemen of
the
village who
had constituted into themselves into an NGO were entrusted the task of running the
Learning Centre
and the Gymnasium.
