International Women’s Day Celebrations
India’s rocket women in global limelight
The Sabha organised, in association with the
South Indian Education Society, a function as part
of the International Women’s Day celebrations to
felicitate eight extra-ordinary women scientists
who were part of Chandrayaan – 3 and the
leadership of ISRO, Dr. S. Somanath, Chairman
and Dr. P. Veeramuthuvel, Project Director,
Chandrayaan – 3. Shri. Umesh Revankar, ViceChairman, Shriram Finance Ltd. was the Guest
of Honour. Smt. Hema Malini, MP gave a scintillating
dance ballet with her Natya Vihar Kalakendra on Durga – Naari Sushakti. The following
persons were
honoured on the occasion:
They were given a cash award of Rs. 2.50 lakhs each, a gold coated bronze lamp, a citation folder,
silk sarees, dhotis, books and a special shawl. Dynacons Systems and Solutions gave them a gold coin
each. Society Tea gave specially designed tea hampers for International Women’s Day and gave it to
each of the awardees.
The event was sponsored by Shriram Finance Ltd. and supported by Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani
Medical Research Centre, Multiple Alternate Assets Management Co. Ltd., C. S. Foundation, HSBC
Mutual Fund, TATA Capital, Union Bank of India, New India Assurance Co. Ltd., Mastek Foundation and
Dynacons Systems and Solutions. Mr. Toshihiro Kaneko, Dy. Counsel General of Japan also attended
the function. Padma Vibhushans Dr. R. Chidambaram and Prof. (Dr.) Manmohan Sharma also graced
the function. Smt. Hema Malini was felicitated on the occasion.
